Fastbrick Robotics (ASX:FBR) has started construction on the ‘Hadrian X’ machine as it attempts to revolutionise the construction game.
The ASX-listed company is aiming to automate the process of bricklaying, with the company telling its shareholders this morning that the Hadrian X would be able to lay 1000 standard brick equivalent units per hour.
The bricks will be delivered by a 30m boom from a single position on site.
According to the prototype, the Hadrian X will be truck mounted for maximum mobility and minimal worksite footprint.
“The commencement of construction of the Hadrian X is another significant milestone for a team which is breaking new ground every day,” FBR CEO Mike Pavic said.
“We are a frontier technology company, and we’re one step closer to bringing fully automated, end-to-end 3D printing brick construction into the mainstream.”
The Hadrian X’s predecessor in action
Instead of traditional mortar, a proprietary adhesive is applied to each brick as it goes through the Hadrian machine, and then applied by the boom.
The machine is reportedly capable of handling different brick sizes and will complete all the cutting, grinding, milling, and routing of bricks prior to laying.
This means that the structure is ready for first fixing immediately after the Hadrian X moves offsite – saving time and money.
